Hi Reader, Hope you and your kitty are well. Something happened this past weekend that took my breath away - I found Charlie sleeping in the sink upstairs, which is something that hasn't happened in about two years. To me, this was an excellent sign that he is feeling more like himself. I shared last week that I have been working with a homeopath in the UK with Charlie, and the last remedy he had (there have been several, including one that expelled liver flukes) helped to expel heavy metals. I never thought he would sleep in the sink again, but this followed after he ate full bowls of food over and over. I am even more in awe of holistic medicine and homeopathic medicine. When Western medicine has no further ideas, it's incredible how the body can heal if it's approached correctly and with logic. I appreciate all modalities and want to understand how to heal more effectively by identifying the root cause, rather than just suppressing the symptoms. I had the good pleasure of meeting Dr. Ruth a few weeks ago at her Whole Pet Conference, which she held in Overland Park, KS. Dr. Ruth is a remarkable woman doing remarkable things. I have wanted to interview Dr. Ruth Roberts, DVM, for some time after watching several of her interviews. I was very excited to talk to her about kidney disease in cats since my Charlie was diagnosed with CKD. You can find more about the things Dr. Ruth mentions, including her courses, on her website. 2. ShopStainless Steel Litter Box with High SidesWhile searching for something else on Amazon over the weekend, I came across this high-sided stainless steel litter box. I think it's the coolest, but I have not reviewed it. This is an extra-large, high-sided stainless steel litter box designed to be rust-resistant and non-stick, with 13.7" high sides to prevent litter from scattering. Its 20"L x 12.2"W x 13.7"H dimensions make it ideal for large cats or multi-cat households, and it features an open-top design, easy-lift handles, and sliding wheels for effortless cleaning and mobility. The one-piece construction ensures no leakage, while a curved low entry allows easy access for kittens and older cats. 5. MeetWillow – Ragdoll of the Week"How BLESSED are we to have loved a kitty so well that missing you hurts so much!...I fell in love with this soft ball of fur back in November of 2009 when we went to pick out a kitten from a Ragdoll breeder here in our home state. I always knew the Ragdoll breed was the one for me with those big blue eyes that melt your heart!" |

Hi Reader, Happy October! I love September and October, but mostly the beginning of October because September is still lingering. So, it's really September that I still love. Charlie has also been enjoying the weather - posted this photo on Monday of him. Charlie is doing well. We have continued to work with the homeopath in the UK, and it has been interesting to see the changes in Charlie since he started taking the remedies. I cannot tell you how much I WISH homeopathy were as well-known as...
Hi Reader, Last week, I asked you guys what you thought about posting GoFundMe links on Floppycats. Thank you to all who took the time to write to me and respond with feedback. After reflection and also your insights, I have decided that I will not post GoFundMes or similar on the site or in the newsletter, unless it is a very special circumstance. I have decided this because: They make Floppycats feel less like a community and more like a place to ask for money. Opening the door to a lot of...
Hi Reader, A reader wrote me this week asking for help for her cat, Charlie. He is in the ER, and they do not know exactly what the matter is with him. She has created a GoFundMe-type fundraiser for him; however, I traditionally don't allow posts asking for money on the Floppycats Facebook Group or Page. For a few reasons: I'm concerned that posting fundraisers might: Make Floppycats feel less like a community and more like a place to ask for money. This leads to a drop in the fun cat content...
