A reader's cat is in the ER... what would you do?

Hi Reader,

A reader wrote me this week asking for help for her cat, Charlie. He is in the ER, and they do not know exactly what the matter is with him. She has created a GoFundMe-type fundraiser for him; however, I traditionally don't allow posts asking for money on the Floppycats Facebook Group or Page. For a few reasons:

I'm concerned that posting fundraisers might:

  1. Make Floppycats feel less like a community and more like a place to ask for money.
  2. This leads to a drop in the fun cat content we all love.
  3. Opening the door to a lot of different requests can be overwhelming.
  4. This could easily be abused by scammers

But I do want to be able to help kitties in need and allow the readers to decide if they want to support a kitty in need. So, I have included a link to Charlie's GoFundMe below:

HelpSaveCharlieTheCat

I want to hear from you. What do you think is the best way forward? Should I create a separate post for fundraisers, or maybe a dedicated day of the week for them? Or is it better to avoid them altogether and keep our page focused on sharing our cats' silly antics and cute moments? Please share your thoughts. Your feedback is vital to me, and it will help me decide how to move forward while keeping our community's best interests at heart.

Don't forget to enter our September giveaways!

Peace, love, and purrs,

Jenny

Say Goodbye to Fleas! Easy Natural Indoor Hacks 🏠🐾

Got an email this week that said, "I found your page while desperately searching for ways to manage a flea infestation. I wanted to reach out and thank you—your insights have been incredibly helpful, even though I don’t have cats."

I truly have tried to provide all the information I was desperately searching for after continually getting fleas inside over and over again. Ultimately, it comes down to getting rid of the source of fleas, which in my case was an opossum. I worked with an animal communicator to help him find a new home - a different tree. Knock wood, we haven't had a problem since. However, you can still be left with a lot of fleas, which reproduce rapidly.

The gal that sent me the email this week said she had a roach infestation once upon a time, too (lives in a NYC apartment, so lots and lots of neighbors) - she said I would take that roach infestation over this flea one anytime. And I agree. Until you have had fleas and had to get rid of them naturally, there is nothing more mind-boggling and frustrating. I have figured out what works perfectly for my home, and that's what I cover in this video.

I also have a natural flea control page on Floppycats that compiles all the information I've learned from hours of researching Facebook posts and more.

Litter Boxes for High-Spraying Cats: Choosing the Right High-Sided Option

I am aware of a few litter boxes for high-spraying cats, but there are other ways to create a DIY litter box that works for high-peeers. This page will have all the information you need to find the correct box for your high peer. But, high-sided litter boxes for cats are also great for controlling litter scatter, so even if you don’t have a high-pee-er, everyone can benefit from these litter boxes.

Viva Raw Complete Cat Food

Whenever someone asks me about feeding raw, I first suggest Viva Raw because of their human-grade standards and also the ease of feeding. Raw is my preferred way of feeding a cat, and I wish Charlie were still on raw. But with his kidney disease, he cannot be on Viva Raw because of the bone content. Bone is necessary for younger cats, but older cats have a harder time processing it. Whenever I get new kitties, I will definitely feed them raw from the get-go.

If you want to try Viva for your cats, you can use the Viva Raw discount code FLOPPYCATS for 20% off your first order. They do offer a guarantee, too.

Hi Reader, Hope you and your kitty are well. Something happened this past weekend that took my breath away - I found Charlie sleeping in the sink upstairs, which is something that hasn't happened in about two years. To me, this was an excellent sign that he is feeling more like himself. I shared last week that I have been working with a homeopath in the UK with Charlie, and the last remedy he had (there have been several, including one that expelled liver flukes) helped to expel heavy metals....

Hi Reader, Happy October! I love September and October, but mostly the beginning of October because September is still lingering. So, it's really September that I still love. Charlie has also been enjoying the weather - posted this photo on Monday of him. Charlie is doing well. We have continued to work with the homeopath in the UK, and it has been interesting to see the changes in Charlie since he started taking the remedies. I cannot tell you how much I WISH homeopathy were as well-known as...

Ragdoll kitten with a toy mouse

Hi Reader, Last week, I asked you guys what you thought about posting GoFundMe links on Floppycats. Thank you to all who took the time to write to me and respond with feedback. After reflection and also your insights, I have decided that I will not post GoFundMes or similar on the site or in the newsletter, unless it is a very special circumstance. I have decided this because: They make Floppycats feel less like a community and more like a place to ask for money. Opening the door to a lot of...
