Hi Reader, You know what I was thinking about this morning while brushing my teeth - I am grateful I have a mostly white cat and that fleas are brown/black. I cannot imagine having a black cat and dealing with them. I hope, if you have never dealt with fleas or if you have, that you never have to again. I sometimes struggle to understand the importance of fleas in the grand scheme of things - how do they add value, what part of the food chain do they supply? I finally gave Charlie garlic - which I used to give somewhat regularly. Garlic is safe in small quantities and helps keeps fleas away, but it causes mild digestive upset for Charlie - which, when you have kidney disease, isn't helpful - we don't need extra nausea-inducing things. But if you have a young, healthy cat, garlic is a great option for making fleas unattracted. I talk about it here. What Dr. Judy Morgan says about garlic and cats. It worked for us years ago - and contrary to popular belief, garlic is not toxic if given in minute amounts. For those looking for natural options, I have gathered all my resources here: natural flea control. 🎥 Shorts for Your Entertainment

I agreed and went to pick him up the next day." Want to submit your kitty to be featured? See our simple submission guidelines here. |

Hi Reader, Last week, I mentioned how I didn't want to bathe Charlie. Well, I had to. When you are treating fleas naturally, you are limited with your options, especially if you have an older cat with kidney disease. The diatomaceous earth kills the adults, but it doesn't take care of the eggs or larvae until they hatch and wreak havoc. Because they die only after their exoskeleton has come into contact with the DE, it's not a quick death—so they irritate the heck out of the cat until they...
Hi Reader, ⛈️ Storms, Chills, and "Flea Month" in KC It is storming in Kansas City right now, and the rain is sticking around through tomorrow. After that, our temperatures are dropping sharply from the 90s (32°C) straight into the 70s (21°C). Here in the Midwest, October is notorious for fleas. As the weather cools, they frantically seek warmer hosts before winter hits—and those crisp mornings make them much more likely to hop onto you, your cat, or your dog. Frustratingly, for the second...
