Charlie at 17 vs. a kitten 🥺 Plus: FIP hope, cat roller fences & WFH cat beds

Hi Reader,

I feel like I just wrote the last newsletter! I am not sure how a week already went by.

In the fall, I coach high school field hockey, so I am always running around with my head cutt off - luckily, Charlie is so comfortable now that he just sleeps from when we go inside to when I come home from hockey. It's pretty dang hot here right now and he likes to hang out outside longer than most would.

How to Hold a Ragdoll Cat

Since Ragdolls are larger cats with incredibly relaxed personalities, knowing the safest and most comfortable way to pick them up is essential for both you and your cat. Every cat is a bit different—while some love the over-the-shoulder hold or being scooped under the belly, others prefer different support to feel fully secure. In our latest guide and video, I demonstrate exactly how I safely hold Charlie, Trigg, and Murphy, plus share step-by-step tips on approaching them properly. Click through to the blog to see the video and learn how to hold your Ragdoll without causing any stress or strain!

I really think how to hold a cat comes down to what the kitty is comfortable with. But would be curious as to your thoughts on this matter.

2. FIP

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) used to be considered a deadly, terminal diagnosis for cats, but recent prescription approvals have completely transformed the outlook for our feline friends. Today, there is a highly effective medication available in both tablet and liquid forms that boasts an incredible 90% success rate in treating the disease. However, because the virus progresses so fast, pet owners must act quickly to get their cats diagnosed and started on the treatment as soon as possible. This is an older article about a cat that survived FIP because of this medication. My very first Ragdoll, Skittles, died of FIP, so this is near and dear to my heart.

3. Fence

These discreet systems attach directly to the top of your existing fence and spin when a cat tries to climb over, safely preventing them from getting a grip and escaping. We've broken down exactly how they work, their pros and cons, and our top brand recommendation for standard yards. Head over to the blog to read the full article and see if a roller fence is the right choice for your home!

Hawkeye - Ragdoll of the Week

"I did not know about Ragdoll cats until I overheard a coworker talking about them. She has a daughter with special needs, and wanted a cat that would be friendly and affectionate with her daughter. I asked her about it, but she couldn’t tell me much more about them. So I Googled them, and learned more about them. I was also going through a rough time at work, and I was very stressed out. I had heard that having a pet could be helpful for stressed out people, and Ragdolls seemed like a good choice. I went home and told my husband that for my sanity I needed a cat."

Ragdoll kitten torbie video

Hi Reader, Last week, I mentioned that there is BIG NEWS in the Floppycats' family....MEET MacGyver! SHE and Bo have already formed a bond and love one another =). MacGyver was named after the popular 1980s-early 1990s TV Show that my cousin Jill loved. I love her name as well because I, too, loved that show. MacGyver comes from Bluedreamer Ragdolls in Kansas City (where we live), and she is a blue torbie. Torbie = tabby + tortie, so she is a blue lynx like Trigg was, but she has fun tortie...
