There is more BIG news in the extended Floppycats' family...but I haven't had a chance to properly announce it yet...can you guess what it is?

My cousin was recently out of town, so I had the great pleasure of seeing her seal point Ragdoll kitten, Bo, almost daily while she was gone - and man, he is a cool cat. I am most impressed by his Ragdoll limpness when you pick him up. Reminds me of Caymus, the only other true "ragdoll" that I have picked up. Caymus, at 17 lbs, required two hands to hold him, otherwise he would slither out of your hands with his limpness. Bo isn't that big yet, but I would guess he will be a two handed cat.

​Do Male Cats Have Nipples? (Yes, and here’s why!)​

Have you ever given your male cat a belly rub, felt a small bump, and wondered, Wait, do male cats have nipples? The short answer is yes!

Just like humans and all other mammals, male cats have nipples. Here are a few quick and fascinating facts about them from our latest post:

• Why do they have them? It’s all about fetal development. In all mammals, nipples develop in the womb before the sex of the fetus is determined. Once testosterone kicks in for male kittens, the mammary glands stop developing, leaving the nipples behind as vestigial structures.
• Can male cats produce milk? No. Because their mammary glands are undeveloped and lack milk ducts, male cats do not produce milk or nurse kittens.
• How many do they have? There is no set number! While most cats (male and female) have between 4 and 10 nipples (usually 6 or 8), they can even have an odd number.
• Are there health concerns? While extremely rare, it is possible for male cats to get swollen nipples from physical trauma or even develop mammary tumors. This is why your vet still checks your boy's nipples during their exam!

"Our two Ragdoll kitties were born September 12, 2019. They are both male and full siblings.Kai and Lani - Ragdolls of the Week 3We have an amazing breeder who allowed us to meet the dame and sire before the kittens were born. Then, once they were born, we were allowed to visit them starting at two weeks of age. Watching them grow and change color was fascinating! We chose them from a litter of 5 males, at the age of 3 weeks old."
