Hi Reader,

Last weekend was a long weekend in the USA to celebrate Labor Day, and the high school field hockey team that I help coach had a tournament in St. Louis. So Charlie was home alone with the cat sitter. I have the cat sitter stop by a few times a day when I'm away, since Charlie mostly just sleeps, eats, and wants to go outside. That's about the extent of his day. He wouldn't come inside for the pet sitter - the little stinker.

One thing I have noticed since Trigg's departure is that Charlie becomes much more needy when I get home. It's interesting to me how oblivious I was to how much they kept each other company when I was away. I never thought Charlie needed it, but I have learned that Trigg's presence was an essential factor for that. I do not think Charlie is lonely in general - just when I am gone.

However, we don't really understand the person or their motivation behind it, nor do we know if they took the time to find the proper sourcing, etc.

We adopted him from the local shelter, which most appropriately named him, after he was surrendered as a homeless stray last winter. He was not in good shape, with a severe respiratory ailment, no chip, no history, and no known owner.
